This award funds research on the GPR39 receptor's role in vascular dementia and cognitive decline, aiming to develop new treatments for aging-related vascular cognitive impairment using animal models and molecular studies.

Description

The project investigates the role of GPR39 in maintaining capillary blood flow and preventing cognitive decline related to vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) and cerebral small vessel disease (SVD). It uses mouse models and lipidomics/phosphoproteomics to develop potential novel therapies for aging-related VCI.
