The Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) in California received multiple awards including federal grants from the EPA totaling over $6 million for water transmission, consolidation, and infrastructure projects, as well as state and local contracts for pipeline installation, water system consolidation, and environmental compliance. The awards involve the construction of various water mains, connection to CVWD's system, abandonment of existing small water systems, and environmental mitigation measures. The projects are funded through federal, state, and local sources, with detailed specifications, bidding instructions, and legal requirements. The awards also include environmental permits, design, environmental documentation, and construction management services, with specific project durations and performance obligations.

Description

The project involves installing approximately 800 linear feet of 32-inch diameter fusible high density polyethylene (HDPE), 2,070 linear feet of 30-inch, 5,410 linear feet of 24-inch, 3,330 linear feet of 12-inch, 2,180 linear feet of 8-inch diameter water main pipe with restrained joints, including valves, fittings, polyethylene encasement, testing, disinfection, clearing and grubbing, excavation, imported sand, backfill and compaction of backfill, potholing all utility crossings, surface restoration, and all necessary appurtenances. The pipeline work includes excavation of jacking and receiving pits, shoring of trenches and pits, pipe jacking operations, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), and related backfill and compaction. Portions of the pipeline will cross below ground the Union Pacific Railroad within a steel casing and the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel (HDD). Additional work includes connection removal and reconnection at various trailer parks and MHPs, street pavement and surface restoration, application and obtaining of encroachment permits from Riverside County and Caltrans, notification of Underground Service Alert (U.S.A., 811) prior to excavation, and video documentation of existing conditions.
