Research grant awarded to study the molecular mechanisms and structural architecture of base excision repair involving DNA ligases and XRCC1 to prevent genome instability.
Description
This project aims to elucidate how DNA repair proteins coordinate to execute accurate repair of DNA damage at biochemical and atomic levels, focusing on the roles of DNA ligases I and IIIα and the scaffolding protein XRCC1. The research will involve biochemical, biophysical, X-ray crystallography, and cryo-EM approaches to understand the molecular mechanisms and structural architecture of the BER complex.
