Description
This research aims to explore the regulation of endothelial barrier function in mechanisms associated with peri-implantitis. The study examines how inflammatory factors involved in peri-implantitis—specifically implant-derived titanium particles and bacteria—regulate endothelial function through paracrine and intracellular pathways involving VEGF, TLR4, and Cx43 using a novel 3D gingival endothelium-fibroblast microfluidic system. In vivo studies and human subjects will assess the effects of implant-derived titanium particles and peri-implant oral bacteria on gingival endothelial barrier function and inflammation.
