Description

This project aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of caspase-11 in innate immunity against Legionella pneumophila, utilizing advanced microscopy, sequencing, and proteomics techniques. Legionella pneumophila is an infectious bacterium that causes Legionnaire’s disease and remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the immunocompromised such as the elderly. Caspase-11 regulates bacterial clearance via mechanisms involving actin polymerization and lysosomal fusion, which are critical for immune defense.
