Description
Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is a valvular heart disease caused by the Strep A bacteria affecting over 40 million people, mostly in low-resource settings. The study aims to determine if oral penicillin is non-inferior to intramuscular penicillin in preventing RHD progression, through a randomized non-inferiority trial involving school-based echocardiographic screening of approximately 100,000 children.
