Description
The Ocular Imaging Core will provide various imaging modalities to investigators involved in this P30 Cole Eye Vision Research Core. It includes live animal (in vivo) imaging with slit lamp and fundus photography, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO), and optical coherence tomography (OCT). It also supports tissue and cellular (ex vivo) imaging, offering training and assistance with tissue fixation techniques, paraffin and plastic embedding, sectioning (paraffin, Cryo, and resin), and immunohistochemistry staining. Microscope imaging techniques include bright field, dark field, DIC, fluorescence, confocal, and electron microscopy. The core also provides morphometric analysis support for generated images. Access supports NEI R01 investigators, helps new investigators with grant data, fosters collaborations, attracts researchers, and expands the vision research faculty.
