Description
This project aims to test a developmentally-informed, mechanistic model of the escalation of impairing social anxiety symptoms in early-to-mid adolescence, focusing on Fear of Negative Evaluation and Hypervigilance for Errors in the presence of peers, with frontal brain oscillations central to this escalation. The study involves EEG recordings during cognitive control tasks in peer presence/absence, with a longitudinal design involving 256 adolescents aged 11-15, to translate findings into brain-based therapeutics.
