Description

Request for Bid No. S-6594, Atlantic Street @ Henry Street Intersection Improvements. The project includes the realignment of the east leg of Henry Street to align directly opposite the west leg and eliminate the existing offset intersection condition. The project includes the intersection of Atlantic Street and Henry Street. Proposed improvements along Atlantic Street extend approximately 300 feet north and south of the intersection with Henry Street. The work limits on Henry Street extend approximately 200 feet east and west of the intersection with Atlantic Street. Each approach on Henry Street, as well as the Atlantic Street approaches, will be reconfigured with an auxiliary left-turn lane. Along with these geometric improvements, the existing traffic control signal equipment will be replaced with far side mounting of signal heads on mast arms. Accessible pedestrian signals will be installed at new pedestrian handicap ramps on each corner of the intersection. New pavement markings will be installed on all intersection approaches with applicable traffic control signs. In addition, the project will include minor drainage improvements to accommodate the widened pavement areas and to replace deteriorated structures. This contract is subject to the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights & Opportunities (CHRO) state set-aside and contract compliance requirements.
