A research project funded by NIAID to study the transmission biology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by investigating bacterial survival mechanisms during aerosolization to develop transmission-blocking therapies.

Description

This five-year training grant aims to develop an independent academic career by identifying bacterially-encoded determinants that facilitate successful transmission through survival in air. The project involves exposing laboratory and clinical strains of Mtb to air-drying stress and analyzing effects on metabolism and cellular integrity, utilizing CRISPRi gene silencing.
