Award for developing advanced MRI techniques to non-invasively study water transport and tissue microstructure in the brain and other soft tissues, aiming to improve clinical diagnostics and research.

Description

Development and translation of novel quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) methods to assess tissue structure and architecture in vivo, primarily by tracking water in tissues, enabling applications in neurosciences and biomedical research, and improving clinical outcomes. Includes development of Diffusion Tensor MRI (DTI), statistical tests for DTI data, mathematical models of water diffusion, and advanced MRI relaxometry/diffusometry/exchange methodologies.
