Description

This project involves the development and clinical evaluation of second-generation tissue engineered vascular grafts (TEVG2) designed for use in children with congenital heart defects. The study aims to assess the safety and efficacy of the TEVG2 over a 2-year period in 24 pediatric patients undergoing modified Fontan surgery. The TEVG is made by seeding autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells onto a biodegradable scaffold, which transforms into a neovessel resembling a native blood vessel.
