Description
This project aims to use genetic mouse models and cell culture systems to explore the role of RAMPs in vascular cells during migraine, focusing on how they may contribute to the female-predominance of chronic migraine. The research will investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms involving RAMPs and CGRP signaling in vascular cells, which are implicated in migraine pathophysiology. The project will examine how CLR-RAMP signaling, activated by adrenomedullin and CGRP, influences lymphatic vessel development and function, and how these processes are affected by female sex hormones. The goal is to understand the cellular basis of sex differences in migraine and identify potential pharmacological targets.
