Description
The project focuses on the effects of pain on drinking behavior in individuals with chronic TMD pain. The study involves laboratory and real-world assessments using virtual reality and ecological momentary assessment. The research aims to identify modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for hazardous alcohol use related to pain. The project uses the INTACT VR platform for controlled drinking environment testing and is informed by the CANUE model, a theoretical framework for psychosocial factors in pain and substance use. The project aims to improve interventions to reduce alcohol-related consequences in people with chronic TMD pain.
