Description
This project aims to optimize the translation of evidence-based alcohol reduction interventions into clinical HIV practice, guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research and RE-AIM. It involves a Hybrid Type 3 effectiveness-implementation trial across three HIV clinics testing whether practice facilitation increases the reach, adoption, implementation, and maintenance of stepped care for unhealthy alcohol use. The intervention includes brief intervention, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and pharmacotherapy delivered via in-person, telemedicine, or computer modes. The project includes pre-implementation planning, formative evaluation, and post-implementation summative evaluation using mixed methods to assess implementation outcomes and secondary effects on alcohol use, ART adherence, and viral suppression.
