The award funds the development of a new imaging technology, TOF-MPET, to improve cancer radionuclide therapy imaging by enhancing sensitivity and image quality compared to current methods.

Description

This project aims to develop a novel nuclear imaging modality called time-of-flight multi-photon emission tomography (TOF-MPET) to improve imaging of radiopharmaceutical therapies (RPT) used in cancer treatment. The technology seeks to enhance signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity compared to existing SPECT imaging, enabling better imaging of alpha therapy radiopharmaceuticals injected at low activities. The project will demonstrate the performance of TOF-MPET with a minimal system, potentially improving cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring.
