Description
This project aims to comprehensively characterize active alveolar macrophage (AM) reservoirs in therapy-suppressed HIV-1-infected individuals by studying proviral landscapes, viral RNA transcription profiles, immunological functions, and impacts on viral rebound and replication. The study utilizes molecular, cellular, and immunological methods with a well-characterized human subject cohort to provide fundamental knowledge about HIV-1 persistence and to devise strategies for eliminating myeloid reservoir cells.
