A research project funded by NICHD to test a virtual family-centered telerehabilitation program (CARE-CITE) for stroke survivors and their carepartners, aiming to improve upper extremity function and caregiver quality of life through a randomized clinical trial.

Description

This project aims to optimize stroke recovery by developing family-centered rehabilitation interventions that support functional improvements in stroke survivors without increasing caregiver burden. It involves a theory-based family-centered intervention called CARE-CITE, which uses autonomy-supportive strategies to engage carepartners during stroke survivor in-home rehabilitation activities. The project includes a fully virtual, two-group randomized clinical trial to test the efficacy and sustainability of CARE-CITE, focusing on improving upper extremity function, activity performance, social participation, and caregiver well-being.
