Description
The HAALSI Program aims to assess biological, social, and economic factors and public policies influencing dementia among older adults in South Africa, and their implications for health policies in the United States. It builds upon an existing cohort with 13 years of follow-up, includes detailed dementia assessments using the US-based Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol (HCAP), explores interactions among cognitive impairment, HIV infection, and cardiometabolic disorders, and establishes a nationally representative cohort to estimate prevalence and associations of aging-related conditions.
