Description
This project explores the role of environmental factors in utero, specifically vitamin D deficiency, in programming patterns of fetal and infant growth that increase susceptibility to hypertension (HTN) early in life. The study investigates how hematopoietic stem cells from embryos exposed to vitamin D deficiency can transfer HTN to adult mice and examines the epigenetic mechanisms involved. The research also assesses whether antenatal vitamin D supplementation in humans and rodents can reduce HTN in offspring.
