Description

The project investigates how aging-related amyloid accumulation affects HIV reservoirs and how HIV infection and ART may accelerate Alzheimer’s disease (AD/ADRD). Using aged, SIV-infected, cART-treated rhesus macaques, the study explores the intersection of HIV, neurodegeneration, and aging. The research aims to understand the impact of amyloid fibril deposition on the reactivation and expansion of latent reservoirs in older people living with HIV, and how HIV influences the development of late-onset AD-ADRD.
