Progress of Strategies Developed and Implemented by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for MFRPS Maintenance and Food Protection Task Force

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services received funding from the FDA to maintain and improve food safety standards and coordination through the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards and the Food Protection Task Force, supporting a comprehensive food safety system in Virginia.

Description

Funding provided by the cooperative agreement will support Virginia’s maintenance of conformance with the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards and sustainment of the Virginia Food Protection Task Force. Utilizing the Strategic Improvement Plan, identified gaps will be addressed within the Food Safety Program’s Manufactured Foods Program conducive to maintaining full conformance with all ten areas identified by the standards. The Virginia Food Protection Task Force is a multi-agency membership team that expands on the coordination of food protection, resources, and information exchange to create a more comprehensive food safety system in the Commonwealth.
