Description

This research aims to understand how common and rare genetic variations influence the risk of developing obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), with a focus on Latin American communities. The study will analyze genetic data from 530 OCD trios, including samples of Latin American ancestry and from the Rutgers Center for Genomics of Psychiatric Health. Objectives include identifying risk genes impacted by rare and common variants, and contributing data to the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium and LATINO consortium to enhance statistical power and fine-mapping. The project will integrate genomic data with clinical and environmental variables such as trauma exposure, treatment history, and geolocation to uncover gene-environment interactions. Exploratory analyses will evaluate convergence with cortical structural alterations and transcriptomic profiles to deepen neurobiological understanding.
