The award supports the development and validation of MRI biomarkers for aging muscle, including dispersion imaging techniques, and translation to human studies, with computational analysis and personnel support.

Description

This project aims to develop R1p dispersion imaging at weak locking field frequency to quantify degenerative changes in microvasculature and abnormal macromolecule accumulation in muscle fibers, validate MRI indices with ex vivo methods in F344 rats, and translate R1p dispersion imaging to human research using a 3T MRI scanner. The project supports research on aging muscle, biological markers, imaging techniques, and clinical assessments.
