Description

This project aims to identify novel mechanisms underlying the role of HMGB1 in a murine model of Kawasaki disease vasculitis and aortic aneurysm formation. The research will explore the contribution of HMGB1 to the pathogenesis of KD vasculitis and evaluate the potential of blocking HMGB1 activity as a therapeutic strategy. The study will determine the role of HMGB1 in LCWE-induced KD vasculitis using anti-HMGB1 monoclonal antibody and inhibitors, and explore the cellular sources of HMGB1 during KD vasculitis, focusing on platelets and neutrophils using cell-specific knockout mice.
