Research grant awarded to study electrical signaling in basal ganglia neurons to understand neurological symptoms and develop corrective strategies, focusing on dendritic properties and signal processing.
Description
This project aims to study electrical events in two dominant classes of basal ganglia neurons to understand signal processing and develop corrective strategies. It investigates physiological disparities between dSPNs and iSPNs and their dendritic properties, explores the impact of K+ channel blockers on dendritic electrical signaling and their potential to modulate basal ganglia pathways, and captures dendritic electrical signaling in the striatum through voltage imaging.
