Research project to establish cf-mtDNA as a biomarker for kidney and vascular dysfunction in CKD and evaluate NR as a therapeutic strategy.

Description

This project aims to investigate the relationship between circulating and urinary cell-free mitochondrial DNA (cf-mtDNA) levels and systemic microvascular health in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It will evaluate whether cf-mtDNA can serve as an early biomarker of kidney and vascular dysfunction and assess the feasibility of nicotinamide riboside (NR) supplementation as a therapeutic strategy.
