Implementing a Scalable Smoke-free Home Intervention in Armenia and Georgia

A NIH/NCI funded project to adapt and test a smoke-free home intervention in Armenia and Georgia, aiming to reduce tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure through community engagement and a randomized controlled trial.

Description

This project focuses on reducing tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure in Armenia and Georgia through culturally adapted interventions, capacity building, and rigorous testing via a hybrid randomized controlled trial (RCT). The study aims to adapt an evidence-based smoke-free home intervention for homes in Armenia and Georgia, develop local capacity for intervention delivery via community partners and quitlines, and test the intervention through a hybrid effectiveness-implementation RCT. The work will build a model for culturally appropriate intervention dissemination and could be applied in other low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
