Description

This project aims to study multi-omic markers of early mortality versus successful aging in sickle cell disease (SCD). It leverages data and biological samples from a cohort of approximately 600 individuals, as well as other cohorts totaling over 4,000 samples deposited in the NHLBI TOPMed biodata repository. The research focuses on identifying biomarkers related to aging and mortality, including telomere length, mitochondrial copy number, clonal hematopoiesis, and proteomic and glycoproteomic biomarkers.
