Description

The Binational Early Asthma and Microbiome Study (BEAMS) Program Project takes advantage of a natural experiment in two populations with shared ancestry but different environments to elucidate the microbial origins of asthma protection. Core B for BEAMS-2 is responsible for completing data collection on subjects through the child's fifth year, ensuring standardized collection and processing of human samples, efficient transport of samples across the US-MX border, and providing infrastructure for sample management. This supports the determination of longitudinal symptom scores, childhood asthma, and surrogate risk factors including atopy and lung function, ensuring scientific integrity of data collected in two countries.
