Description
The project aims to describe patterns of change in cognitive status as a function of modifiable risk factors for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, including diabetes, hypertension, obesity, physical inactivity, depression, and smoking. It will account for the fact that risk factors can change over time and that their effects may differ at various points in the disease course and age. Models will be used to generate realistic trajectories of cognitive status and risk factors, supporting population-level planning for public health priorities and healthcare needs. The project will leverage multistate transition models (MSTMs) and microsimulation models to estimate associations and project population burden and trends.
