NIH grant awarded to Washington University for developing and evaluating molecular imaging and targeted therapies for pulmonary fibrosis using PET imaging of CCR2+ cells.

Description

This project addresses the challenge of caring for patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a lung disease with short survival and limited therapeutic options. The research team has developed a radiotracer, 64Cu-DOTA-ECL1i, for PET imaging of CCR2+ monocytes, which are implicated in pulmonary fibrosis. The studies will use mouse models to evaluate molecular therapies targeting CCR2+ cells and assess the potential for monitoring disease activity in humans.
