Research project funded by the National Institute on Aging to study molecular mechanisms of memory formation and impairment, focusing on transcription factors and protein folding, with implications for Alzheimer's disease.
Description
This project aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms through which the Nr4A sub-family of transcription factors regulates gene expression to control long-term memory, focusing on protein folding and memory formation. It uses single-cell RNA sequencing, behavioral, and proteomic approaches to identify cell-type specific transcriptional signatures and direct gene targets of Nr4A, and assess effects in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.
