Description
The project aims to conduct a randomized clinical trial to determine if antibiotic treatment of non-dysentery Shigella-associated diarrhea (NDSD) cases in children would reduce morbidity, mortality, systemic and gut inflammation, and restore growth. It will also introduce a rapid diagnostic test for Shigella applicable in endemic countries to identify patients who will benefit from antibiotics.
