A clinical trial funded by NIDDK to study the effects of low oxygen exposure on weight and metabolic health in obese individuals, aiming to improve weight-loss strategies.

Description

This project involves a double-blind, parallel-arm, randomized clinical trial to evaluate changes in body weight and composition, assess determinants of energy balance (intake and expenditure), and measure modulators of energy balance following 8 weeks of calorie restriction combined with either overnight exposure to normobaric hypoxia or normoxia, using a commercially available, in-home tent system. The study aims to explore a non-conventional approach to supplement current weight-loss strategies and benefit metabolic health in individuals with obesity.
