Description
The REC core serves as the central scientific research and training component in the Center for Health in Cognitive Aging – Joining Population Science and Health Promotion (CHECA). It is responsible for soliciting, peer reviewing, and selecting pilot studies aligned with CHECA's thematic focus. The REC facilitates development of Individual Development Plans (IDPs), fosters career development and networking, and provides mentoring for early-career CHECA Scientists. It recruits faculty as mentors, develops criteria for identifying early-career Scientists, and creates workshops and training plans, including instruction in Responsible Conduct of Research. The program aims to develop a cohort of CHECA Alumni Scientists who will establish independent research programs and mentor future investigators.
