Research project studying how patients with cochlear implants perceive and produce emotional prosody, focusing on cue-weighting to improve emotional communication and inform clinical and technological advancements.
Description
This project investigates the hypothesis that “cue-weighting”, or how patients utilize the different acoustic cues to emotion, accounts for significant variance in emotional communication with cochlear implants (CIs). The study focuses on children with CIs, with parallel measures in postlingually deaf adults, aiming to benefit social communication across the lifespan by informing technological innovations and clinical protocols.
