Research Training in Women's Health and Intersectionality Using Data Science and Health Information Technology (WISDOM)

This award funds a research training program at Emory University to prepare nurse scientists in data science and health information technology for women's health research. It supports interdisciplinary training, mentorship, and research practicum over five years.

Description

The purpose of this T32 program is to prepare nurse scientists with knowledge and skills to employ data science (DS) and/or health information technologies (HIT) to advance health research using innovative methodological approaches. This training builds on Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing's funded research, faculty expertise, and infrastructure. Trainees will develop interdisciplinary research skills, understand and apply DS and HIT methodologies, and develop interventions using these approaches. The program includes specific courses related to DS and HIT methodologies, electives for specialization and interdisciplinary training, biweekly seminars, 15 hours/week faculty research work, research practicum with center internships, and participation in interdisciplinary research centers. Fifteen nurse scientists will be trained over 5 years, engaging 17 mentors and 6 co-mentors, collaborating across 10 research centers/institutes/departments.
