Description
The project hypothesizes that an imbalance in activity between wake-promoting (orexin) and sleep-promoting (GABA) neurons in the hypothalamus underlies insomnia during alcohol withdrawal. Using neuroscience tools such as deep-brain imaging and pharmacogenetics in a mouse model, the study aims to image neuronal activity, test mechanistic hypotheses, and evaluate sleep's role in alcohol relapse prevention.
