Description

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School APIL Core facility seeks funding for an IVIS Spectrum 2 instrument. The Spectrum 2 enables imaging of fluorescent, bioluminescent, and chemiluminescent molecules in live animals, tissues, and cells. It will be utilized to study drug delivery and distribution, disease progression in tumor and infection models. The Spectrum 2 is a state-of-the-art optical imaging platform for in vivo imaging of specimens ranging from cells to rodents. It supports multiple projects focused on parasitic and viral infections, pancreatic cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, intestinal diseases such as colitis, and improved methods for drug delivery. It features a thermoelectrically cooled CCD camera for broad-range bioluminescent, fluorescent, and chemiluminescent reporters, with improved quantum efficiency. It provides highly sensitive, non-invasive 2D bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging, reconstructable into 3D images. The device has a 22.5 cm field of view, extendable to 10 mice, with trans-illumination and epi-illumination capabilities. The software is user-friendly, capable of quantifying multiplexed signals, removing autofluorescence, and reconstructing images in 3D. Accessories streamline workflow and increase throughput. This cutting-edge in vivo optical imaging system will advance research and therapeutic development to improve human health.
