A research grant awarded to develop and validate a multi-modal mouse model for cluster headache to aid in understanding the disease and developing new treatments.

Description

This project aims to develop a multi-modal mouse model of cluster headache by combining trigeminovascular, genetic, and hypothalamic manipulations, including nitroglycerin injections, Mertk gene knockout, and optogenetic activation of the posterior hypothalamus. The model will be validated through behavioral, molecular, and pharmacological assessments to facilitate understanding of cluster headache pathophysiology and development of novel therapeutics.
