Description
The goal of this Midcareer Investigator Award is to grow the field of young investigators trained to conduct patient-oriented aging research and prevent unintentional injury in older adults, especially those in nursing homes. The award provides practical experience and training to expand capacity for Age-Friendly programs and mentorship. The initiative aims to reduce unintentional injuries among older adults by integrating the 4Ms of geriatrics: mind, medications, mobility, and matters most. Dr. Sarah Berry has successfully mentored 37 trainees, resulting in numerous publications and awards. She currently leads a large randomized trial supported by PCORI and collaborates on studies funded by NIA. The project will focus on high-quality research on injury prevention through Age-Friendly programs and on training investigators in this field. It includes mentorship from Harvard Medical School programs, leadership training, and implementation science education.
