This NIH-funded project aims to develop and evaluate novel molecular diagnostics for maternal and congenital syphilis to improve timely and accessible testing, leveraging microfluidic devices and end-user feedback.

Description

Development of a first-in-class, inexpensive, rapid, and reliable point-of-care nucleic acid diagnostic to enable accessible and rapid testing for congenital syphilis, evaluation of detectability of syphilis pathogen DNA and microbiome changes in maternal vaginal swabs, and early end-user assessment of feasibility, acceptability, usability, and implementation.
