Description

This project investigates key metabolic events during and after heart attack, focusing on how manipulating these events can impact outcomes, particularly in conditions of chronic hyperglycemia such as diabetes. It aims to study cardioprotective metabolic signaling events downstream of glycolysis, including the roles of pH, succinate, and methylglyoxal (MGO), and to develop ALKBH7 inhibitors as drugs using experimental systems like adult cardiomyocytes, perfused hearts, metabolomics, and engineered mice.
