Description

The project aims to assess the effectiveness of a pharmacist-led telehealth preventative medicine intervention embedded within a general health and wellness model in high-risk communities. The hypothesis is that employment type influences engagement in preventative health strategies, with industries such as beauty, food, transportation, hospitality, nursing/medical aids, and plant workers being less likely to participate. The intervention involves delivering preventative medicine education and counseling via telehealth, utilizing a shared decision-making model. The study will evaluate barriers to preventative medicine, knowledge, and behaviors through randomized group trials over two years. The goal is to demonstrate the impact of pharmacists and telehealth on increasing preventative health strategies, ultimately informing healthcare practices and expanding the role of pharmacists in telehealth services.
