Description
This project uses acute tissue slices generated from patient-derived brain tumor samples and orthotopic mouse models that recapitulate the cellular features of these complex tumors, combined with single-cell analysis, to determine the effects of drugs and drug combinations that target specific subpopulations of cells in the tumors and surrounding brain. The project aims to identify targetable cellular phenotypes and differential drug responses in the core and infiltrative margins of glioblastoma, compare effects of cytotoxic drugs and ferroptosis-inducing drugs, and evaluate combination therapies with immune-modulatory treatments using slices from the tumor core and margins. The drugs and combinations will also be tested in immunocompetent orthotopic glioma mouse models and patient-derived xenografts to assess effects on tumor progression and survival.
