Description

This project aims to develop a non-human primate model for the design and testing of Closed-Loop Anesthesia Delivery (CLAD) systems for anesthetics such as propofol and dexmedetomidine. The research will involve neurophysiological recordings (EEG, local field potentials, neural spiking activity) in non-human primates during anesthetic administration, combined with pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling, control theory, and signal processing to develop real-time CLAD systems. The long-term goal is to establish a paradigm for the development and testing of CLAD systems, making them a standard for brain state monitoring and drug dosing in anesthesiology, thereby enhancing patient safety and reducing anesthesia-related morbidities.
