Description
This research aims to understand how a cell cycle protein called CCNYL1 is used by oligodendrocytes to develop and create myelin, the insulation around nerve fibers that allows efficient communication in the nervous system. The study will use zebrafish and mice to investigate how CCNYL1 affects oligodendrocyte formation during early development, learning in adulthood, and recovery after demyelination in vivo. By uncovering the molecular pathways regulated by CCNYL1, this work could lead to new therapies to promote myelin repair in diseases like multiple sclerosis.
