Description
This project involves a randomized non-inferiority trial comparing intramuscular and oral penicillin prophylaxis to prevent the progression of latent rheumatic heart disease in children, with a focus on low-resource settings. The study will conduct school-based echocardiographic screening of approximately 100,000 children and enroll 1,004 children into the trial. The project aims to assess efficacy, cost-effectiveness, and patient-reported outcomes, with results expected to inform international policy on care standards for children with latent RHD.
