The project studies the effects of adolescent upward mobility on cognitive health and Alzheimer's risk, focusing on sex differences, using a natural experiment from charter schools to analyze biological and cognitive outcomes.

Description

This project investigates how upward mobility during adolescence affects cognitive health and Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk, with a focus on sex differences. It uses a natural experiment from public charter high schools to compare groups with different mobility opportunities. The study aims to assess the impact of mobility on cognitive ability and resilience to AD, moderated by sex; explore links between mobility, inflammatory markers, and gut microbiome, considering sex and ApoE-ε4 status; and examine associations between health markers, brain structure/function, and cognitive outcomes.
